Eid-E-Milad

Eid E Milad

Eid-e-Miland or Barah Wafat, is a holy festival, occurs in Rabi-Ul-Awwal, on twelfth day of the third month, according to the Islamic Calendar. During the twelve days, sermons and Koranic texts narrating the life, noble deeds and teachings of the Prophet are recited in mosques. Elegies known as 'marsiyas' are sung to commemorate Prophet's while on twelfth day or the 'Urs' is observed in silence. It is considered pious to offer prayers and give charity to poor and needy on this day. Sweets are distributed and there’s mirth and bliss all around.

Islamic Prophet Muhammad was born in Arabia, in the city of Mecca on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, 571 A.C. Often called as the “messenger of God,” Prophet Muhammad has been designated as 'Maqam e Mahmood' by the believers and worshipers.

The devotees celebrate this day as ‘Eid e Milad nu Nabi’. This day is rightly superior to all other festivals for Muslims called ‘Eid’ because it’s the third biggest festival of all other Eids. Large street processions are held; homes and mosques are decorated with bright lights.

Devotees observe fasts and prayers are offered in devotion, encircling every heart with chastity and home with blessedness. Men, women and children dress in their finest clothing to perform Eid Prayer. Family’s get-together for elaborate feasts and exchange of gifts with loved ones are the highlights of the Eid festivals.

Eid-e-Milad observes the birth of the Islamic Prophet Mohammed, who guided the mankind to follow the path of Allah, with his teachings and is celebrated by Muslims all over the world.
