Eid-e-Miland or Barah Wafat, is a holy festival, occurs in Rabi-Ul-Awwal, on twelfth day of the third month, according to the Islamic Calendar. During the twelve days, sermons and Koranic texts narrating the life, noble deeds and teachings of the Prophet are recited in mosques. Elegies known as 'marsiyas' are sung to commemorate Prophet's while on twelfth day or the 'Urs' is observed in silence. It is considered pious to offer prayers and give charity to poor and needy on this day. Sweets are distributed and there’s mirth and bliss all around.
